Veterinary Dehydration Fluid Plan Calculator

Replacement volume from percent dehydration, plus maintenance and ongoing losses. Not a mcg/kg/min converter.

Formula

Deficit (mL) = % dehydration × BW(kg) × 10
  because 8% of 10 kg = 0.8 kg = 800 mL.

Maintenance (mL) = mL/kg/day × BW × (hours / 24)
Total = deficit + maintenance + losses
Rate (mL/hr) = total / hours

Allometric option (not the default here): dog ~132 × BW^0.75 mL/day;
cat ~80 × BW^0.75 mL/day. Shock boluses are a separate decision.
